A Note From the Executive Director
Let me first start out by saying “Hello” to all the residents, family members and employees that are a part of The Bluffs community. My name is Jeff Robbins and I am the new Executive Director for your wonderful building.
I was born in Kansas City and grew up in Grandview, Missouri. I attended the University of Missouri when the Tigers were still in the Big 8 conference. After I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, I put that to good use first working in management for Pizza Hut corporate, then working in information technology for a small telecommunications company known as Sprint. That was my attempt at humor as no one really does anything with a political science degree unless they enter into law school. However, working for Sprint afforded me the ability to receive a master of science degree in project management from George Washington University. So …. I have to say my degree from Mizzou really paid off!
So, the question: “How did you get into the long term care business”? I moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area back in 2001 with my family. I was involved with the Camdenton school district for several years working with children with special needs until I was offered a position with the outpatient physical therapy practice as manager. The practice decided to go into the skilled therapy business with a local nursing facility. This venture opened my eyes to the world of long term care and like the saying goes… the rest is history. I served on the nursing facility’s Board of Directors for six years, two of those years as chairman. When the administrator position opened up at the facility, I jumped at the opportunity to step into operations. I served as administrator tor two years in a building that has skilled nursing, long term care and residential care as well. The building actually is set up very similar to The Bluffs. My tenure there was amazing and it will always have a special place in my heart.
Now, I am moving to Columbia and I am looking forward to being a part of your community. My philosophy is to focus on the quality of life in my facilities and how the individual components all come together to create a sense of community within the building. Nursing, dietary, activities, social services and administration… they all come together to create that quality of life that we all want for our loved ones. The Bluffs is very fortunate to have a dynamic and dedicated Board of Directors and Leadership team and I am looking forward to being a part of that team.

Who Are We?
The Bluffs is a modern 132 bed not-for-profit skilled nursing facility serving the citizens of central Missouri. The members of our volunteer Board (the Boone County Senior Citizen Services Corporation) are appointed by various local agencies. This helps keep our focus on being responsive to the needs of the community.
In addition to state-of-the-art long-term nursing care, our array of services includes a 16 bed Alzheimer’s special care unit, short-term rehabilitation services, and hospice care. The Bluffs has earned the reputation of being one of the best nursing and rehabilitation facilities in the state of Missouri. In Fact, we like to think of ourselves as the “Guiding Light” in long-term care.
Why Are We Here?
At The Bluffs, our goal is to help our residents reach and maintain their highest level of independence. In addition, we strive to create “moments of joy” for everyone everyday through our activities programs, and “warm personal touch.” We pride ourselves in our commitment to excellence in everything we do. From the cleanliness of the facility to the quality of our food, we work everyday to implement continuous quality improvement within each area of the facility.
“The loving care that my mother always received at The Bluffs and the loving care we both received in her last days as I kept vigil will absolutely never be forgotten. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
