The Bluffs is a non-for-profit dedicated to providing a happy and enriching environment for everyone who walks through our doors. We rely on the generosity of friends, family and community members to facilitate many events and celebrations, and there are lots of ways for you to support all the fun things we do, including giving of your time, your resources and your talents.

Volunteering & Internships

VolunteersWhat’s extra great about volunteering? The way it enhances the lives of both the volunteers and the recipients. At The Bluffs, we thrive on the involvement of generous volunteers!  In fact, many of our programs exist because of the engagement of our community. Opportunities exist for short-term and long-term volunteering of individuals, groups and days-of-service.

The people who live at The Bluffs love all the friendly volunteers who come to visit, read, play games, give manicures and share in special events. Volunteer groups can have fun with us by helping to facilitate special events. And for those of you who get a kick fueling your inner event planner, we’d love to work with you to plan something special.

The Bluffs also accepts volunteer groups for days-of-service. Most days we have events and needs that day-of-service groups can lend assistance to.

Looking for a rewarding and valuable internship? The Bluffs accepts intern applications for Health Sciences, Social Work, Health Administration, Marketing and Human Resources which are introduced in a supportive, yet challenging learning environment that blends real world experience with education.

One of the easiest ways to contribute to all the fun we have here at The Bluffs is through small item donations that enhance our events. In addition to our many Life Enrichment activities, The Bluffs hosts a monthly Pop-Up Shop which sells donated items to residents for Bluffs Bucks – Bluffs currency earned through attending events around The Bluffs.

Donations of gently used or new items can be made any time to the front desk and will be used for all kinds of life enrichment programs, including our Pop-Up Shop. Some suggestions include:

  • Clothing
  • Room decorations
  • Art and craft supplies

Our folks enjoy shopping for gifts even more than they do personal items. All donations are accepted.

Additionally, The Bluffs is certified in the Music and Memory Program (link to national program). We accept CDs, iPods and over-the-ear headphones to help us provide personalized playlists and music experiences.


The livelihood of The Bluffs could not be possible without the generous support of our community. The Bluffs accepts donations at all times of the year, participates in COMO Gives, establishes Memorial Gifts and has a legacy giving program.

Live Bluffs Give Bluffs is our Memorial and Planned Giving program, which allows philanthropic individuals to make large gifts that make a big impact on the lives of those who make The Bluffs their home. We are honored that people who have “Lived The Bluffs” as residents, friends or family members are excited to “Give to The Bluffs” and leave a legacy of quality living for generations of older adults to come. 

Gifts come in all sizes.

Gifts under $100 can provide clothing, personal items and other basic needs someone may otherwise live without. 

Gifts up to $1000 can provide live music entertainment, special equipment, therapeutic music and movement classes, art classes, trips in the community and other fun and engaging opportunities.

Gifts of several thousand dollars can be used for capital purchases that enrich the lives of all those who live at The Bluffs, including:

  • Audiovisual systems
  • Furniture for recreation areas
  • Commercial cooking equipment for resident use
  • Fountains and other garden landscaping that enhance meditative and relaxing outdoor experiences,
  • Quality musical instruments
  • Structural remodeling to various other Life Enrichment spaces

Gifts can be applied in a way that is most meaningful to you. We have even had donors sponsor Christmas bonuses for our staff to thank them for the exceptional care provided.
